How To Style A Skin Fade with Combover

STEP 1
Using Uppercut Deluxe Pomade, scoop a generous amount of product onto your finger.
STEP 2

Smooth and spread the product evenly across your palms and fingers.

STEP 3

Start by using your palms to apply product throughout your hair, using your hands to create the rough shape of your finished style.

STEP 4

Use fingertips to apply product along your part line.

STEP 5

Using an Uppercut Deluxe Comb, set your parting. Work along your short side first.

Lift your fringe section, combing up and away from your parting to create height. Next, comb the top of your hair away from your part line.

STEP 6
STEP 7

Finally, use your palms to smooth your style and control any flyaway hairs.

Like any good style, the best starting point is of course a good cut from a trusted Barber. If you haven’t already found your go-to Barber then get out there and find him or her.

Ask your Barber for a skin fade or bald fade finished off with a straight razor. For the Combover it is important that your Barber leaves a good amount of length on top of the hair to ensure you can style accordingly. Length throughout the whole top section of the hair will allows for the Combover look and naturally slightly more length is required through the fringe to style correctly.

A bit of history on the Combover

Not to be confused with the ‘style of denial’ used by balding men to hide thinning hair. The traditional Combover dates back to the early 1900’s and is a simple evolution of the more traditional short back and sides. Categorized by a longer length of hair which is swept over the top section of the head and cropped tightly above a faded bottom section. In this particular style the fade is taken down to the skin at the base of the hairline and finished off with a straight razor to complete the skin fade.
